Draw bias

Straight course (5f) – used to be one the strongest biases in the country and for the first three months of the 2008 season some races displayed a similar high draw bias. However, they tend to move the far rail in 4 or 5 metres mid summer and this tends to nullify the high draw advantage.

Round course – no draw bias.

Pace bias

5f – slight advantage to front runners / prominent racers;
7f or more – no real advantage, although occasionally a meeting will display a bias for horses up with the pace.
